Volcanoes and Earthquakes

Overview

In this unit, children will learn about the different layers of the Earth (crust, mantle and core) and be able to explain their features and what they’re like. Children will learn about why volcanoes erupt and why earthquakes occur and be able to write about what happens during these natural disasters using diagrams and geographical vocabulary to support their learning. Children will consolidate their map and globe skills to locate different volcanoes around the world, as well as locating where earthquakes have occurred.
