Welcome to

Castleton Primary School and Children's Centre

Our Aim
Castleton Primary School and Children’s Centre is dedicated to recognising and nurturing every child’s potential, empowering them to flourish and be the best they can be so they recognise anything is possible.

Our Core values

Our three core values of kindness, courage and curiosity are woven through every part of our school culture, our community and our curriculum. They are at the heart of everything we do.

  • We expect everyone in our school community to be treated with kindness and fairness so they feel safe, included, heard and valued to make the very most of every opportunity they are given;
  • We provide a safe, inclusive environment, where everyone feels a sense of community, identity and belonging so they have the courage and self-worth to challenge themselves with no limits on learning;
  • We create a culture of curiosity, cultivating a sense of awe and wonder around it and preparing our children to succeed in our rapidly-changing world.

Our Relational Culture

Everyone in our school community:

  • Embodies our core values of kindness, courage and curiosity in every part of their school lives and interactions with others;
  • Makes connections with everyone, forms positive relationships and celebrates diversity in our ever-changing society;
  • Finds joy in, and makes happy memories, from their learning and experiences, igniting their “spark” and giving them a lifelong thirst for learning.

Our Curriculum

Through our rich, ambitious curriculum, high standards of teaching and learning and high expectations of everyone in the school community, we teach our children to:

  • Acquire the essential knowledge and skills they need to prepare them for future success in everything they do;
  • Work creatively, and with perseverance, to use this knowledge in meaningful and exciting ways, striving for excellence, embracing challenge and taking pride in everything they do and contribute to our school community;
  • Appreciate, care for, and be curious about, the world in which we live, as well as being responsible for its future.
